About
So Yeah, Dood… Friends of mine made comment that usually some kernel of beer lore slipped off of my tongue following those three words and a short pause. Having said them many times after many beers, Neal Shaffer — head honcho over at www.thelosscolumn.com — took note of this affectation and dubbed the column he asked me to write “So Yeah, Dood…” You can view the results here.
The problem with writing a beer column on a sports website is that people aren’t really visiting to discuss beer, so after a few years of writing on Neal’s site, it occurred to both of us that we might better serve the interest of his readers and mine if I started my own joint.
This is that joint.
The articles are longer, the topics a bit more advanced — I hope — and the focus is squarely on imbibing happily.
Here, I hope that readers will find a place to read about beer, its components, how it’s made, why it’s made that way, and where to find it in various locales. But this isn’t just a site about beer. It’s a site about enjoying libations of all kinds in a — mostly — responsible way, and connecting people with a similar interest in the Dionysian aspects of life.
SYD is not a place for drink snobbery, nor is it a place for anti-drink snobbery. Consider it all inclusive, a place where Natty Boh or Miller Lite drinkers stand on even ground with people who prefer port after dinner, or a snifter of Armagnac.
After all, like my main man Ben Franklin said, “There cannot be good living where there is not good drinking.”
